LYG Welcomes a new sponsor

- GMT Games!

GMT

LYG is delighted to announce that GMT Games are our latest sponsor.

GMT's support of PBEM is already well known and appreciated in the hobby and we're delighted that they have chosen to increase it yet further through sponsorship of LYG. Please show your support of LYG and GMT by visiting their site (linked via the banner above).

June has already proven to be an incredible month for LYG. We've been talking to GMT about the possibility of them supporting the site for a long time now and it has finally come to fruition. As mentioned above, GMT's support of Cyberboard is already well known, but the fact they have now joined the growing list of LYG sponsors helps clarify who in the hobby does fully support this, to many of us, invaluable play-aid.

Coincidentally, as I was updating the site, I received an email from a visitor from France asking what the Cyberboard policies of the various publishers were. Fritz and I compiled such a list back in 2005 for the 'Cyberboard Design Olympics' but the list has not been maintained. At least the (growing) list of LYG sponsors is an increasingly useful source of CB friendly publishers (and we're expecting another, possibly two more, in July).

The other fairly obvious significance of the June update is the mammoth number of gameboxes - 20 submitted (plus one sourced and a couple of updates). What is less obvious (and of less interest to most, though exciting for me) is the fact that I've found a new way of analysing the download figures. This saves me considerable time (and paper) when updating the Top 10 Downloads and probably makes them more accurate too.

Thanks as always to all our supporters: visitors, contributors and sponsors.

Limey

Over 650 Gameboxes!!!

I'm finding that whilst we have a wide range of contributors, there are a few individuals who are making an exceptional number of submissions of gameboxes thay have created (or participated in the creation of) and I thought it was about time they got full recognition. This is partly inspired by something Chris Fawcett used to do on Yankee Air Pirates. Each month I will display the top 5 contributors to the site on the home page. This will be based on gameboxes they have produced and submitted. So, here we go:

Position Contributor Submissions
1 Daryl Anderson 74
2 Howard Divins 41
3 Mal Atherton 37
3 Paul Kantro 37
5 Noel Wright 34

Don't forget to send in your submissions - especially if they're on Limey's Most Wanted List - though we can only make them generally available if they do not contain scanned images, or where use of scans has been authorised by the copyright holder.

KHYBER PASS GAMES

KPG Games

March 2009 - End of an Era: The decision has been made to discontinue our Desktop Line of games. That being the case we will sell them until we run out of the current stock of games.

Already two games are gone, but there might be some copies left at Boulder, Noble Knight, or Bunker Hill.

This is the DTP stock as it stands at the end of February 2009:

There are still plans to release Rosebud and Battle of the Little Bighorn as a boxed set with die-cut counters but that won't happen for a while. And who knows some of the others might resurface with die-cut counters at some point in the future.

LPD GAMES

LPD Games

Our thanks to Limey Yank Games for their service to the hobby community. LPD Games uses Cyberboard for prototyping and development and are happy to encourage pbem games in every way possible. After all, our games are meant to be played, not just admired (though we're delighted if they're admired as well).

Our Battles of the American Civil War games series includes two games you can try out on Cyberboard:

"Battle of Honey Springs" is a print-and-play game about the largest Civil War battle in Oklahoma. The rules are available at http://www.lpdgames.com/gamehsbacw.html Get the gamebox from Limey's link.

"Newtonia - Civil War on the Missouri Border" Another print-and-play beta test, playable with Honey Springs rules, was published in our e-zine "Special Operations", downloadable at http://www.lpdgames.com/sosepseven.html

And of course there are Cyberboard boxes you can download to play any other LPD Games title you own.

Watch for future releases and test drive games with our Napoleonic and Campaigns of the Second World War engines here and on our website, http://www.lpdgames.com.
